COURSE INFORMATION

Overview

The outdoor pool will be set up Long course.  So that means you will be swimming in a 50m pool.  We will line athletes up on the pool deck.  Seeding will be done on an honor system.  You want to ensure you are seeding yourself according to your ability.  There obviously will not be a congested bike course so there is no need to seed yourself where you should not be.  So that means seed yourself according to your last swim workout, not where you would like to be.  This will ensure no backups in the pool.  Once we have everyone seeded we will begin with one athlete entering the pool at a time.  Swimming down in lane 1, back in 2, down in 3, and so on.  Once all Long course athletes have finished we will start the short course athletes in lane 4.  

Transition

Opens – 6:30am
No friends or family members allowed in the transition area for any reason. The race director and race officials will close the transition area 30-45 minutes before race start to ensure all athletes are at the starting area for mandatory course meeting and announcements. Once the transition area is closed, you will NOT be permitted back in before the race starts. Family/Friends will not be permitted in for any reason at any time throughout the event.

Re-Opens
When the last athlete is off the course and has headed out for the run. This time is variable and we will make announcements at the event when the transition area is ready to re-open.

Any athletes removing gear from transition areas before the announcer or race director has officially opened the transition area will be DISQUALIFIED from the race! This pertains to all athletes of all distances. All athletes deserve a clear transition.

In the event of inclement weather, it is recommended you have warm, dry clothing outside the transition area to put on following your finish due to other athletes still being on the bike course.

Timing Chip
When you have completed the race, please do NOT enter the transition area wearing your timing chip. PLEASE remove your chip before re-entering the transition area and exiting again. This will cause a timing error.

The transition area will be set up just outside the pool deck in a flagged area along the sidewalk area.  This will keep congestion out of the pool during the swim and athlete exit.   You may place your run gear in this area.  You will make the transition from the swim to the run exiting the last lane in the pool and proceeding outside the pool deck.  Making the change from swim to run with run shoes and heading out on the run course.

Aid Station
Located at the run in/out chute with water and electrolyte replacement.

Directional
Run In/Out and Bike In/Out chutes are clearly marked on the large structures at either end.  It is your responsibility to go the right direction while racing in the transition area.

Swim

200m or 400m

Run
The run course will be a super fast, flat jaunt throughout the ASU campus.  It will take you past many of the ASU landmarks as well as faculty and staff buildings.  It is a 1.55 mile loop so once you reach the split you will simply make the turn into the finish line or head out for lap 2.  The finish turn will take you into the finish chute on the student activity fields just in front of the center.  This is also where packet pickup and registration will be held race morning.

Water and Gatorade Endurance Formula will be at the transition area run exit as well as the split for lap 2.

Your course will be marked with cones, signs, and chalk around campus.

As we all have heard, information about the coronavirus has been coming at a fast and furious pace over the last few days. The situation is much different than it was even 24 hours ago.
We had almost 400 athletes registered to come from 35 different states. If one of those athletes is positive for the coronavirus and transmits it to others, we are then facilitating the massive spread of the virus across the country.
