At 3 Disciplines Racing, we’re more than just an event company — we’re a team built on passion, grit, and a commitment to giving back. With over 25 years of experience, we’ve produced, timed, and consulted on 1,300+ events across 25 states, serving more than 300,000 athletes.


How It All Started

In the mid-1990s, founder Kenny Krell had already raced around the world, competing in hundreds of events. But as a cross-country and track coach, he faced a common challenge: no budget for uniforms or equipment for “kids who just run.”

Determined to make a change, Kenny gathered the kids and their parents and announced his plan: to organize a series of trail runs and duathlons where all proceeds would go back to the team. The events were a success, providing new uniforms, better equipment, and sparking interest from other groups like Kiwanis, the Alzheimer’s Association, and local charities.

Three years later, Kenny made a life-changing decision: he resigned from teaching and coaching to officially launch 3 Disciplines Racing.


Building 3 Disciplines

Starting a business wasn’t easy. Kenny and his wife, Annmarie, sold nearly everything — furniture, appliances, even their home — to invest every penny into their dream. They lived on the road in an RV for 2.5 years, parking wherever they could: casino lots, family backyards, and anywhere they were welcome.

At times we rotated between three casinos in Arizona, asking security how long we could stay. If we ate there a few times, we’d get a couple more days. That’s how we lived until we were back on the road to Texas or the Midwest for events.” — Kenny Krell

Despite the challenges, Kenny and Annmarie never wavered. They built 3 Disciplines on hard work, passion, and a promise to give back with every event.


GIving Back: A Core Value

From day one, community impact has been at the heart of everything we do. Through our Food and Shoes From Athletes program (started 24 years ago), we’ve donated:

  • 4,200+ Pairs of Shoes to those in need
  • 150+ Truckloads of Food to local shelters
  • Thousands of Event T-Shirts for communities across the country
  • $900,000+ in Cash and Services to charities, schools, and organizations

Every event we produce partners with a local charity, ensuring that our races don’t just benefit athletes — they benefit the communities where they take place.
